REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FORMATTING OF ARTICLES IN THE COLLECTION OF SCIENTIFIC PAPERS "Modern Building Structures of Metal and Wood"

Previously unpublished scientific articles on the following topics are accepted for publication in a professional collection of scientific works:

1. Problems of calculation, design, operation and reinforcement of metal and wooden structures;

2. Theoretical and experimental research and analysis of the stress-strain state of metal and wooden structures;

3. Innovative metal and wooden structures.

The article must correspond to the theme of the collection, be published for the first time, and include the following elements:

·         the relevance and general formulation of the problem, its connection with important scientific or practical tasks;

·         an analysis of recent studies and publications that present solutions to the problem and on which the author relies; identification of previously unresolved parts of the general problem to which this article is devoted;

·         formulation of the article's objectives (setting the task);

·         presentation of the main research material with a full justification of the scientific results obtained;   

·         conclusions from this study and prospects for further development in this direction;

·         list of references.

General requirements for text formatting

Articles should be submitted electronically as Word 97–2003 files in .doc format. The file name should contain the publication topic number and the surname of the first author (e.g., Karpenko.doc).

Articles should be submitted in Ukrainian or English and will be published in the original language.

The text of the article should be typed on A4 sheets in Times New Roman 12 pt font with single spacing, aligned across the width of the page, with 2 cm margins on all sides and a paragraph indent of 1.0 cm. The article should be 6-10 full pages in length, including abstracts.

Articles that have been checked for plagiarism by StrikePlagiarism.com and have an originality score of at least 85% will be considered for publication.

Article structure:

UDC index (aligned to the left margin without indentation, capital letters, bold);

title of the article (centred, all letters capitalised, bold, no hyphenation); − surname, initials of all authors, academic degree, academic title (aligned to the right margin, surname in bold; degree and title in lowercase);

full name of the higher education institution or organisation (italic, aligned to the right edge; if the authors are from different educational institutions, each author should be on a separate line);

 

e-mail (aligned to the right margin and accompanied by a unique ORCID number);

abstracts of the article (indented, title in bold, abstracts written in two languages: Ukrainian and English).

The text of the first abstract is written in the language of the main text of the article and must be at least 1800 characters long.

Text of the second annotation: if the publication is not entirely in English, each publication not in English shall be accompanied by an annotation in English of at least 1,800 characters. If the publication is not entirely in Ukrainian, each publication not in Ukrainian shall be accompanied by an abstract in Ukrainian of at least 1,800 characters. The second abstract shall be placed at the end of the article after the list of references in English.

The two abstracts should briefly repeat the structure of the article, including the introduction, purpose, methodology, results, and conclusion. Machine translation is not permitted.

Keywords (no line spacing, paragraph indentation, title in bold, keyword text no more than 6–8 words).

The title of the article, surname and initials, academic degree, academic title, place of work, abstract and keywords are repeated in Ukrainian and English.

There should be a single line spacing between the lines with the UDC index, article title, authors' surnames, abstract, main text and list of references, references in English and second abstract.

Main text of the article.

The structure of the main text of the article, in accordance with Resolution No. 7-05/1 of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine dated 15 January 2003 (Bulletin of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine No. 1, 2003), must contain the following essential elements (the names of structural elements in the text of the article should be highlighted in bold):

– introduction (general description of the problem and its connection with important scientific or practical tasks);

– analysis of the latest research sources and publications that have begun to address the problem (preferably an analysis of the latest publications in professional journals) and on which the author relies;

− identification of previously unresolved parts of the general problem to which the article is devoted; – formulation of the task (formulation of the purpose and methods of researching the problem considered in the article);

– main material and results (presentation of the main research material with full justification of the scientific results obtained);

− conclusions (scientific novelty, scientific and practical significance of the research results, prospects for further scientific developments);

literature (centered, semi-bold; references in the text are given in square brackets [2]; the list of references is given in the order of references in the text in accordance with DSTU 7.1 – 2006 and is written in a column; the words "Sources of information" and "List of references" are not allowed). The bibliography is given in the original language and transliterated. The number of references to literary sources in the article must be at least 15 sources. Particular attention is paid to contemporary English-language articles, in particular those indexed by WoS or Scopus. When compiling the list of references, indicate the DOI of each source.

Bibliography (References). Transliteration is used to reproduce Ukrainian proper names in English when translating publications into English. The names of organisations and institutions that are not translated into English are also transliterated. The transliteration of authors' surnames is performed depending on the language of the original source in accordance with the requirements of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 27 January 2010 No. 55 "On the regulation of the transliteration of the Ukrainian alphabet into Latin characters". The bibliography must be formatted using IEEE STYLE in accordance with the "International Style of Citation and Reference in Scientific Works", Kyiv, 2016.

Tables should be created in Word without filling. Each table should be printed with a corresponding heading and numbering after the first reference to it. The width of tables should not exceed the page margins. The font in the table should match the font of the article.

Formulas should be created in Equation 3.0 formula editor using only standard fonts (Times New Roman; Symbol). Each formula should be typed as a single object, numbered with Arabic numerals on the right in brackets, aligned with the page width.

Figures (diagrams, photos) should be submitted in black and white or in shades of grey after the first reference to them; they should be grouped together and represent a single graphic object; they should be numbered and labelled with the coordinate axes. The size of the labels in the figure should correspond to the Times New Roman 12 pt font.

The following shall be submitted together with the article:

− information about the author (author's reference): surname, first name, patronymic (in full); academic title, academic degree; position, place of work; contact addresses and telephone numbers; postal address to which a copy of the collection should be sent.

‒ review of the article, if the author is a postgraduate student without co-authors with academic degrees and titles.

Articles that do not meet the above requirements will not be accepted for consideration.

Submitted materials are subject to additional review by members of the editorial board or leading experts in scientific fields, and may therefore be returned to authors for revision.

The final decision on publication of an article is made by the editorial board of the publication.

Rejected originals will not be returned.

Articles whose sole authors are third-level higher education (PhD) students enrolled in state-funded programmes (one author without co-authors) are exempt from publication fees. To be exempt from payment, the author must submit to the editorial office a certificate or other document confirming that he/she is a third-level higher education student.

Payment is made only after confirmation of acceptance of the article for publication.

The cost of publishing an article in Ukrainian is 800 UAH, and in English is 500 UAH. The collection is published once a year. Articles must be submitted by 1 May, but the acceptance of articles may end earlier than the specified deadline if the required number of pages is reached.
